Thursday June 9th 2016

Quebec City, Thursday, June 9th, 2016 – The 21st edition of the Envol et Macadam festival will take place from September 8th to 10th. Presented in collaboration with Tremblay beer, the event will once again put alternative music in the spotlight with its high-quality lineup and numerous shows presented at the Îlot Fleurie park (underneath the Dufferin-Montmorency highway overpasses), as well as in various other Quebec City venues.

Bad Religion, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Mad Caddies, The Sainte Catherines and D-Unity

The organization is proud to announce today that Bad ReligionMe First and the Gimme Gimmes and Mad Caddies will perform at Envol et Macadam in September. Many of the capital’s music lovers will be excited to learn that these international groups are going to be paying Quebec City a visit. The Californian group Bad Religion is made up of veritable veterans of the punk scene. While they have been attracting fans of the genre for the past thirty years, their melodic songs and politically charged lyrics are still relevant today. Meanwhile, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is a supergroup made up of members of some very well-known bands (NOFX, Lagwagon, Foo Fighters). They are famous for their highly charged covers of popular songs, which they adapt using punk rock aesthetics. The addition of Mad Caddies will also be a welcome announcement for fans. Their skillful blend of reggae, ska, pop and punk create a brass-filled musical cocktail that the group’s seven musicians deliver with a rare energy. Finally, the mythical Montreal punk band The Sainte Catherines will be taking the stage to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the album Dancing for Decadence.

Electronic music is making a comeback in the Envol et Macadam festival’s programming this year. The festival will be welcoming DJ and producer D-Unity as the headliner of their electronic lineup. The Toronto-based European artist has released material on various well-respected labels and will be performing in Quebec City as part of his worldwide tour. This new electronic feature of the festival will be presented by UNDERTEK and held in a tent at the Îlot Fleurie park, where energetic performances are sure to create a festive ambiance.

With its eclectic lineup that features celebrated acts, as well as the best emerging bands from both the local and international scenes, this 21st edition will be bringing together all of the ingredients necessary for alternative music to shine in the heart of downtown Quebec City.
