Punk Rock Karaoke - 1996 to 2002

    THEY PLAY... YOU SING!

    The band Punk Rock Karaoke got its start in the U.S in 1996. Their goal is to boost audience participation at concerts featuring four legendary musicians: Nathan Maxwell (Flogging Molly) , Steve Soto (Adolescents), Derek O’Brien (Social Distortion), and Greg Hetson (Bad Religion).

    CONTEST RULES

    1. SCHEDULE

    • June 30th to July 31st at midnight: Contest registration and video submissions
    • August 10th to August 27th at midnight: Audience voting via the Envol et Macadam website (www.envoletmacadam.com)
    • August 30th: Audience votes are tallied and the selected participants are announced.
    • September 10: Performance day.

    2. ELIGIBILITY

    1. Participants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of contest entry confirmation.

    2. Participants must be residents of Quebec.

    3. Envol et Macadam administrators, managers and employees, their immediate families (father,  mother, brother, sister, son, daughter) and those living under the same roof as them, as well as all managers and employees of Exo Inc., are not eligible for this contest.

    3. PRIZE

    The selected participants will perform one song at the Punk Rock Karaoke event on September 10, 2010, during the Envol et Macadam Festival, on the Exo/Première Ovation scene.

    The prize includes only that which is specifically described above.

    4. HOW TO ENTER

    Participation in the contest is free and there is no pre-selection. Participants must:

    1. Complete their entry by choosing one of the thirty songs proposed in the list below;

    2. Wait to receive an entry confirmation email;

    3. Produce a video in accordance with the technical specifications described in the entry confirmation email;

    4. Send the specification-compliant video to the address indicated in the entry confirmation email by midnight on July 31, 2010.

    5. CONTEST SONGS

    Pick a song from the following list. But watch out! The song you choose is not necessarily the song you will perform the night of the show (see section 6: Selection Process).

    6. Selection process

    Thirty people will be selected.

    First stage of selection: The person who receives the most votes per song will be chosen to interpret it during the festival on Friday, September 10th.

    Second stage of selection: The second best participant will have priority in choosing his song among those that were not chosen by the winners of the first stage of selection

    Third stage of selection: The other stages of selection will be determined by the same process until the 31st song proposed in Section 5 is available.

    7. SPECIFIC CONTEST RULES: VIDEOS & VOTING

    1.   Videos must meet the technical specifications listed in the entry confirmation email sent by Envol et Macadam.

    1. Participants must be available on Saturday, September 12.
    2. Only one video per participant will be accepted. Once submitted, files cannot be modified.
    3. Only one singer is to be seen and heard in video submissions.
    4. Videos must not contain any racist, discriminatory, or xenophobic content.
    5. All video broadcasting rights shall be transferred free of charge to Envol et Macadam.
    6. If a participant is selected to perform but cannot attend the festival (please notify Envol et Macadam by September 4), the available slot will be offered to those who ranked 11th, 12th (etc.) by audience voting.
    7. No person can vote more than once per day.

    8. GENERAL RULES

    1. The prize must be accepted as is and may not be exchanged, sold, or transferred. No substitutions are allowed. 
    2. Winners must relieve Envol et Macadam and its administrators, managers, and employees of any liability concerning any damage or loss arising from participation in the contest or from the awarding, acceptance, or use of the prize.
    3. Should it be impossible to award the prize as described in these rules, Envol et Macadam reserves the right to substitute, in whole or in part, one or more prizes of approximate equivalent value.
    4. Refusal to accept a prize relieves Envol et Macadam from any responsibility or obligation toward the winner.
    5. Contestants who make any kind of false statement will automatically be disqualified from the contest.
    6. Envol et Macadam shall assume no responsibility resulting from losses; delays; address errors on mail or email received; typographical errors; technical, computer, or telephone malfunctions; damage to software or computer equipment; fraudulent calls, or any other error.
    7. Envol et Macadam shall assume no responsibility whatsoever for any situation in which their inability to act results from an event or situation beyond their control, notably a strike, lockout, or any other labor dispute at their location or the locations of the organizations and businesses whose services are used in this contest.
    8. Entry into this contest implies acceptance of these rules, which shall be enforced by Envol et Macadam. All of its decisions are final.
    9. Any disputes regarding the conduct or organization of a promotional contest may be submitted to the Régie des Alcools, des Courses et des Jeux for a ruling. Disputes that arise in regards to the awarding of prizes may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties to reach a settlement.
