• 17th edition as a sign of emotion

    Tuesday September 11th 2012

Quebec City, September 11th, 2012. The organizers of Envol et Macadam are extremely satisfied with the 17th edition of the festival that wrapped up on Saturday, September 8th. The team has declared that the outcome of the event has been positive, that their objectives were surpassed and that several thousand festival-goers were present. Music fans of all sorts appreciated the diversified lineup, and the Îlot Fleuri park once again served as a marvelous backdrop to the event thanks to its uniquely urban esthetic.

During the three days of festivities, audiences were able to appreciate performances by Young Empires, Lights, Miracles, The Matchup, Obey The Brave, The Vandals, August Burns Red, Wintersleep and Lagwagon. The No Use For A Nameconcert that took place on Saturday night in honor of the memory of Tony Sly was particularly moving. It was the group’s last concert as they have decided not to pursue their activities following the recent death of their friend and singer Tony Sly. The singer’s family was present at the concert and they were very touched by the audience’s outpouring of affection and support. It was an emotional night that will remain etched in the memories of all those who were present.

Thanks to the Planetrox auditions, many up-and-coming bands were able to participate in the festival. Envol et Macadam’s mission is to allow audiences to discover alternative music, and so the organization is very proud to have presented these new talents to Quebec City’s music fans. During the series of concerts that were presented at the end of each night, Le Cercle, Le Scanner, L’Agitée and Le Boudoir took the spotlight as many local and international artists took to their stages and delighted music lovers.

The Envol et Macadam festival wishes to thank all of its festival-goers as well as its valuable partners and collaborators: Tremblay beer; la Ville de Québec; Le Ministère de la Culture, des communications et de la Condition féminine; Canadian Heritage; Quebec City Tourism; Première Ovation; the Exo boutique and the Delta Québec hotel. The organization would also like to thank its suppliers, its associated broadcasters and restauranteurs, its employees and all of the media who were present throughout the event.

We’ll see you in 2013 for another edition of the Envol et Macadam festival!
