The Quebec Finals of the Planetrox Audition

The Quebec finals of the Planetrox auditions will be held at Le Cercle. The competing groups are Gouroux du Rock (Quebec City), Tracer Flare (Montreal), As One Man (Saguenay), Modus Operandi (Victoriaville) and Akoufène (Outaouais). The Czech group Y? and the reggae artist Jah Cutta will also play during this night of musical discoveries.

As a result of the regional finals that were held across Quebec during the past months, the five Quebecois finalists will be given the chance to show off their talent during the festival’s opening night at Le Cercle. The group that wins the finals will perform on one of the main stages at the L’Îlot Fleurie park, alongside the winners from the other participating countries. It’s a unique opportunity for these artists to perform for an audience of avid music lovers.

    Friday, September 6th

The festival will kick off at the L’Îlot Fleurie park with the Quebec-city based group Still Insane, who will take the stage at 6:00pm. During the evening, spectators will be able to enjoy performances by four of the Planetrox auditions finalists.

A little later in the evening, the Californian group Pennywise, along with its original frontman Jim Lindberg, will take the stage by storm in order to deliver the legendary punk rock hymns that influenced an entire generation of fans. They will be followed by Face to Face, a leading group of the California punk rock scene of the 90s. The group reunited in 2008, and many of their fans have impatiently been waiting for them to finally come back to Quebec City.

    Saturday, September 7th

The L’Îlot Fleurie site will be accessible starting at noon, and throughout the afternoon, different groups, including Muted Screams, Defeater and The Hunters, will perform on the two main stages. Ten of the finalists from the Planetrox auditions will also be part of Saturday’s lineup.

The evening will start off on a punk rock note with the Toronto-based group The Flatliners, who are known their sound, which is both hard and melodic. The audience will also be able to appreciate the sounds of Quebec City’s own Modern Primitive, who will lighten up the night with their inspired indie rock. Then the Swedish group Randy will warm the audience up with their fast-paced hits. The evening will close with none other than punk rock pioneers NOFX. The group is famous for their humorous banter and energetic shows, and this concert is not to be missed.

Late-Night Shows To Be Held at Le Cercle, Le Scanner, L’Agitée and Le Knock-Out

At the end of each night of the festival, concerts will be held in the above-mentioned locations, all of which are important to the alternative music scene in Quebec City. Different musical genres will be represented by various local (A Perfect Murder, Les Indiens, Panic Attack, Alie Sin, Unknown Color, etc.), as well as national acts (Motorleague, Hey Ocean). Audiences will also have the chance to once again hear the finalists of the Planetrox auditions, who will also be performing on different stages during these very promising late nights!
