• PLANETROX reveals its Canadian finalists!

    Quebec City, May 24th, 2011. The PLANETROX auditionswere presented for the first time in 2011 and they have been very successful at targeting Canadian musicians. In fact, over one hundred Canadian bands have registered for these auditions for the 2011 Envol et Macadam festival. The participants will be competing across the country from June 1st until June 25th for the chance to play, all expenses paid, at the 16th edition of the festival that will be held at Quebec City’s Ilot Fleurie park from September 8th to 10th

    Following a period of voting that was open to the public on the festival’s website, each of the region’s five finalists are now invited to present a 20-minute performance in their respective hometowns across the country. To consult the list of finalists, please visit the audition’s website at

    The winners of each of the regional finals with have the chance to participate in the Canadian finals that will be held in Quebec City on September 8th at the Imperial Theater for the festival’s opening night. The winner of the Canadian finals will then join the winners from the fourteen other participating countries and will play on one of the event’s outdoor stages on September 9th or 10th, 2011.

    We also invite you to vote for your favourite band from Japan, voting is now open on the Planetrox website. Voting for the other participating countries will open in the weeks to come.

    The PLANETROX project was created by the Envol et Macadam festival in collaboration with the City of Quebec. It is an international project and its mission is to discover the best up-and-coming bands in each of the participating countries so that they may be presented to the public at the Festival. The countries participating in this first edition are: Canada, the United States, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia and South Korea.
