• A record edition of Festival Envol et Macadam!

    Monday September 14th 2009

Quebec City, September 14, 2009 - Almost 25,000 people made their way to Îlot Fleurie for three days of shows at Festival Envol et Macadam 2009.

Our event is doing well. Last year, as part of Quebec City’s 400th anniversary, the Festival welcomed a record 20,000 visitors. We are very proud that we surpassed that figure this year,” said Envol et Macadam Executive Director Simon Gaudry.

The extraordinary program, the spectacular site, and the great weather certainly contributed to the success of this year’s edition of the Festival. Headline acts like Chromeo, Sick of it All, The Sounds, Julian "Ju Ju" Marley, Punk Rock Karaoke, Alexisonfire, Sinik, and Bad Religion delighted fans of all ages and musical tastes.

Envol et Macadam would like to congratulate the winners of the various springboard contests—Mashup Potatos will fly off to Liverpool, Molly’s Decline to Japan, and CEA to France. Montreal group, October Sky, won the GBOB Challenge, whose Canadian finale took place during Festival Envol et Macadam. The group will take part in the world finale in London for a chance to win the grand prize of US$100,000. The winner of the DJ Jam was the talented DJ NRO.

Envol et Macadam would like to thank all the festival-goers, as well as our invaluable partners - Bière Tremblay, Heritage Canada, the Quebec government, the City of Quebec, and all our institutional and media partners, suppliers, associated broadcasters, and restaurateurs.

Join us in 2010 to celebrate Envol et Macadam’s 15th anniversary.
