• The 16th Edition of the Envol et Macadam Festival was a Success!

    Tuesday October 4th 2011

Quebec City, October 4th, 2011. Envol et Macadam’s organizers have stated that the 16th edition of the festival was a success. Despite the rather uncertain weather, over 18,000 festivalgoers attended concerts held at the event’s different sites.

This year’s success can no doubt be attributed the quality and diversity of the festival’s programming. During the three days of festivities, audiences were able to enjoy unforgettable performances by IAM,Jean Leloup & The Last Assassins,The Exploited,Band of Skulls, Men Without Hats,As I Lay Dying,Protest The Hero and Radio Radio. A sold-out show was also held at the Port of Quebec’s Agora, where nearly 7000 punk rock fans let off steam to the tunes of the American group Rise Against, who seemed to greatly appreciate their time in the old city. It was the first time in 2011 that a sold-out concert was held at the venue, and the band took advantage of the fact by filming some images for their upcoming video.

Also noteworthy were the performances by the Planetroxfinalists as well as by the artists who performed at the Place de l’Université du Québec. During the entire weekend, the participating groups were able to exchange with one another and network with other artists and producers from 15 different countries. The festival’s organizers are very proud to have presented international talent to the music fans of Quebec City. And last but not least, Envol et Macadam wishes to congratulate the singer Marième, who won the Envol-toi pour Vancouver contest. The singer will now have the chance to perform at the next Francophone Summer Festival of Vancouver in June 2012.

The Envol et Macadam festival would like to extend thanks to all festivalgoers as well as to all of their precious partners and collaborators: Tremblay beer, the City of Quebec, the Government of Quebec, Canadian Heritage, Quebec City Tourism, the SOCAN Foundation, MusiquePlus, Radio X, Sabian, Marshall, Première Ovation and the Exo boutique. The organization would also like to thank all of its suppliers, associated distributors, restaurants, employees, as well as all of the media who were present throughout the weekend.

We’ll see you in 2012 for another edition of the Envol et Macadam festival!
